What are RCA Preouts?

RCA preouts are in simplest terms, the connection that is typically needed for an amp to be used. Pretty much the same as composite or component audio/video cables for the home. Just plug&play from the HU to the amp.

As for Voltage..generally speaking higher the number the less noise can be induced into the system. More importantly though is the resitance value of the preout volatge. Ie: a 3V HU @100 resitance would typically be a better choice than a 4+V @ 150,200,300Ohm etc...

Its not the amount of noise that can be inducted. The noise inducted will stay the same, even if the output votage is 16V, the noise will be the same as a 2V output. The difference between the two is the Signal to Noise Ratio.

Also, higher preout voltage will allow you to turn the gains on your amp down, theoretically reducing noise. But, if you have no audible noise to begin with, higher preouts won't do you any more good.

them are pre-outs. they are on the back of your headunit. they send the amp the musical signal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

theoreticaly - higher voltage > lower voltage - but i doubt you will hear a difference.
