What amp should I get for my type R?

I push my Type-R 12 4 ohm DVC with 800 wrms and it gets smelly after a few min. with gains set with a dmm to 40v. You should probably go with the rated wattage. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i had a type r run fine off around 1500 rms beforebut around 2k it blew //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Yeah, the type-R will take 1500 in a proper box with proper tuning, but they sound like hell with anything more than 900-ish //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Make sure you put it in a nice ported box. Make it yourself or have someone on here make it for you- somewhere from 2.0-2.5 cubes and tuned in the low 30's. The box is what's going to determine how loud you get and what your sub sounds like.

Also, read the gain setting tutorial on this forum. If you don't set your gains correctly, you'll blow your sub no matter how much power you're sending it.

put a memphis 4k on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif lol jk

try an aq1200 at one ohm or a aq2200 at 2 ohms?

Can it still be clipping if the gains are set correctly?
I guess so.

If you set your gains correctly at 40/50 volume on your headunit with a -3db tone for the amp to make max power, and you decide to turn it up to 45/50 on a 0db song when you listen to your music, chances are you are sending clipped signal.

DIY! (If you're good at following directions and are confident enough) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

id go with the kicker 750.1 also, i think it would be a nice match for the r, considering the amp is slightly underrated and does close to 900 at 2 ohms, then next ud just have to find urself a nice box

220$ is extremely high, for just a sub/sub amp. My friend got it done locally for 80$.

I say do it yourself. It's really not hard (though it could vary by car), and you learn alot about it.

I'll suggest a JP8 amplifier. I believe you can wire your sub to 2 ohm. It's Dual voice coil 4 ohm, correct? JP8 @ 2 ohm does 900 watts.
