What amp should I get for my type R?

1000 watt? That sub is rated at 500...I know they can handle more (I have 2 of them) but 1000 is pushing it.

I've got an underatted memphis amp that will put out more than 500 I could sell you...Or an MTX 800 watt amp. PM me if your interested in either

But if I got a kicker 750 watt amp, the sub wont get blown or anything would it, if the type r is rated at 500 watts? Sorry, I am completely new to this. :/

not if you set the gain correctly. even if you got a 500 watt amp you could blow the sub if you do not set the amp up correctly. are you going to be installing them your self?

Im going to have somebody else install it for me. So just to make it clear; 750 watt kicker amp, 1 12 type r 2ohms ? And how loud is to loud?

Regards

750 seems reasonable. I had mine running off a kicker 1200.1

Just make sure whoever installs it knows what they're doing...if your there, make sure they set the gains with a multimeter!

Ok sounds good, but why should I get a 4ohm instead of 2? and wouldn't that mean that I only have 350 watts powered to it at the ohm speed? Should I get a bigger amp then that then?

I hate having to ask so many questions, but everyone starts somewhere :p

Thanks! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

type Rs are dual voice coil so to use that amp to potential you would want the dual 4 ohm sub and wire it down to 2 ohm.

dual 4 ohm to run amp at a 2 ohm load(for the kicker amp)

Alright thanks a lot. So that obviously isn't going to damage it and give it some serious bump for a 12'? And I am having my uncle install it for me (hes a mechanic) so what type of install kit should I look for? Or would you recommend a professional installation.
