Well replace front stage and rear stage CDT

Ha! I love it when people call bullsh*t on somebody's setup and then that person posts pics for proof. Reminds me of thse people who think everything's a photoshop.

What kind of vehicle is it? Rear speakers are not automatically a bad idea for every vehicle.

In some applications, it's a bad idea. Somebody got ahold of that theory one day and now a lot of close-minded sheeple just regurgitate it over and over without any consideration to different situations and obviously without hearing the difference in every vehicle and setup.

In the end, to each his/her own. In car audio, there are way too many variables to apply one idea to every situation.

Mazda3 hatchback, thanks. I am not hating James, he is going by what he knows and has experienced. I was a little upset at first because I was just like what the hell, i was just stating how i heard the improvement, but just as you said to each his own.

I was going to post install pics of the ES-07 just got so excited to get them in I forgot!! Anyway I think it sounds very well detailed and not harsh at all, I am going to try an activ setup though as James had sugested, I can imagine it sounding so much better!

Thanks for the kind words though!

You can't blame people for being skeptical of someone who owns high end equipment and don't know how to use it, yet alone describe it. Never give a teenage kid a Ferrari I say.

Or better yet, owning all this high end gear and still running passive crossovers:wow:

Eh, I disagree. There are plenty of inexperienced car audio guys that still have the means to obtain quality stuff. As I was reading the guy's posts, I was thinking he just needed guidance, which he was very open and honest about and clearly asking for. I didn't assume he made a thread to lie about his setup. But whatever. My point is that even if you doubt what someone says, if you actually call them out on it, it's pretty humorous when they back up what they've said.

It's equally amusing (and at the same time almost concerning) that people will be so quick to criticize someone and flame the crap out of them and dogpile them as a group when all they are doing is asking for advice, and then to find out half of the people being a$$holes may not be qualified to be giving advice in the first place. Pack mentality is in full effect on the internet. Good stuff! Carry on!

Well, this was an ongoing adventure as it did not start with just this thread. Many people here have given the OP advice outside of this thread, and many of the good points listed, were simply ignored.

I'm all about guidance, suggestions, and advice, only when it comes to willingness to learn and grasp concepts given to them. So speak for yourself chief, don't be so quick to criticize the flaming party.

Chief? lol

Okay, buckeroo!

I can agree there are some poor passive x-overs. & I'm sure you can see an obvious improvement going active over these designs. But how can you generalise all passives? Alot of time & effort goes into finding the right x-over point to achieve a smooth transition & flat response. If its of high quality design/parts, I don't see an advantage in going active.

Guys guys, I am by no means an audiophile and wanted to keep things as simple as possible using (i guess) as stated "high-end" equipment. I never considered the D106 or H701 "high-end" for that matter. The F1 status equipment to me is "high-end" My old Mcintosh Amps I condsidered "high-end". I wanted to keep it simple in my new car!

DVD HU w/IPOD/SAT Ready / DSP w/5.1 and nice colorful readout / Simple navigation intergration, CD-Changer, Comps (CDT fit the bill) with x-overs (simple wiring), amps JL seem to be a decent choice (I thought). The Boston G5/GTR fit the bill becuase of space. Guys that was how i made my decision, sorry to let everyone down. I Like the Alpine stuff because of the Ai-Net daisy chain capabilities. There were no hey man need to go active or need the right front stage, I though 2-sets of comps should sound nice and a decent SQ sub!

Well Ok James, I have a 7-year old daughter so i thoguht the DVD plus the Headrest montiros would be cool and the stuff that was offered made it easy Ie: the alpine single Din center channel, the 5.1 DSP made it easy to control and save settings, so yes I guess the Alpine stuff did make it easy to do. Hell my wife cut in the head rest monitors!

James you willl be happy i have been doing some reading and will soon have a propsed sytem change that I am going to need some help with, so hopefully i can find that here.

You didn't need that center channel speaker. the h701 can make a phantom center channel... I don't think your 7 yr old even cares for that center channel you have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
