Stereos with USB in Front???

I have the JVC KW-V25BT DVD receiver in two vehicles now and I used this head unit because it has a USB port right on the front of the unit. (I'm kinda old school where I like to put my tunes on a USB drive and plug it in front.... and when I need to update my USB drive I don't want to have the USB cable from the back of the stereo over in the glove box)

Now, if there was a way to somehow attached the USB port coming from the back of the stereo to the dash someplace where it's secure (doesn't move) then I wouldn't mind that... but so far I've not seen any kits that all you to mount the USB port someplace on the dash where it's easily accessible.

I just got another vehicle and the according to Crutchfield the JVC KW-V25BT will not work with my new-to-me vehicle not to mention this model is no longer in production.

I've always had good results with JVC head units, but I'm not opposed to using Pioneer.

My new-to-me pickup... so are there any head units made by JVC or Pioneer that hav e a built in USB port on the from of the head unit?

Kenwood/JVC is a good company. Not sure why they say it won't work with the new vehicle.

OK, so did Kenwood buy out JVC?

I don't think it was the physical install as the reason.... the JVC KW-V25BT is an older unit no longer in production so maybe it does retain all the functionality or something.

I'll have to call Crutchfield to question them as to why their website shows the JVC KW-V25BT is not compatible. Since it's no longer in production meaning I cannot buy a brand new one, I'd need to find some else to use anyway.

Meanwhile though, I thought I'd ask if anybody knew of any newer model stereos that have the USB port on the front of the unit.

With this adapter... I can plug in my USB thumb drive which has my music collection

Or, is that just for charging cell phone or other accessories that need power from a USB port?
Kenwood/JVC has been 1 company for a while now.

The USB port that I linked you I used myself for My Kenwood eXcelon that had 2 rear usb cables. I mounted it and connected the kenwood to this. Never had an issue and it did charge the phone as well.

So you can plug in your USB thumb drive that has music on it and it'll play?

Yes. All day long if I wanted to. Anything from my little 16GB thumb drive all the way up to my 2TB SSD.

Well kool then, I guess I'm in bidness with that.

Hopefully they have one with just one USB on the end of the cable

In the lower part of the dash the truck already has a USB port from the factory for charging (yes, I tried putting my thumb drive in to that and it would play music as it's for charging only)

They do sell those USB mounts on Amazon with just 1 USB-A, the two like I linked you, also with USB- A and C
The head units I used were both Kenwood eXcelons. The 706s and the 908s

Thanks!

Yeah, I got figure how to mount it so it'll be good to have a kit that has all the hardware needed.
I literally took out an old 12v cigarette lighter and mounted mine in it. It's the same size as a 12v power hole on a car or truck. USB C function depends on the head unit. My eXcelon 908s was USB C and it charged the phone and played the music from my SSD.

I went ahead and ordered the JVC KW-V660BT DVD Stereo Headunit

I'm hoping it has USB-C since I ordered that style cable

I decided to order from Crutchfield since this time I'm going to install the stereo myself since I'm not doing anything with the speakers for right now. They sound fine for now so I'll let them ride for a while.

At least if I have any questions I can call those guys for assistance.
