That is essentially what the gain structure is for, and with a remote gain control, you have this ability.

The amp does not always put out a consistent wattage. The sub gets louder when you turn them up because the signal does get stronger or weaker, and this is a driect increase in wattage that is going into the woofer. By modifying the gain structure, you are modifying the amount of voltage gain you have for the input power comping from the head unit. By turning up the gain, or the head unit, you are increasing the output potential given the same input voltage.
