ok so i have 2 rockford fosgates punch 1's and there maximum watt is 300 so does that mean i shouldnt use bigger than a 300 watt amp cause i want a 600 watt fosgate amp but i dont want to blow the subs cans someone tell me if thats just to be safe or u really shouldnt use a bigger amp

u shouldnt really need a bigger amp because the music you play will never get to the maximum wattage. Match the RMS of both the subs to the RMS of the amp, you could do more power for head room if you had the money and set the gains correctly.

ok dont mean to act like a noob or anything but by gains u mean like the bass control knob and the other knobs on the amp to increase power and crossover that stuff?

if you look at the amp, it should have a setting that says "gain". that's what we're talking about.

DO NOT use bass boost. ever. nicknamed the "sub killer". the xovers are to fine-tune to your preference and the filters (hp/lp/all pass) are to "filter" out chosen frequencies.

well think about it dude thats like 500 waetts over the rms on 12's i think.... maybe im wrong but im only talking like 100 to 200 over thanks
