Voltage problem @ amp

while driving the other day, my 4 channel Phoenix gold amp quit working

I checked the voltage, and while the power wire is connected to the amp, it reads 1.4 volts...the remote wire reads 12v

now when i disconnect the power wire, it reads @ 12V

I thought it was the amp, so i threw in another amp that I have, a US acoustics 4085, and hooked up the power, ground and remote....AND GOT THE SAME THING //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I checked the power wire from the battery, a 4 ga power wire, and it is not compromised in any way. the inline fuse is in good shape too.

I even tested the power wire with it connecected and disconnected to the amp. i tested it at the battery, the fuse, and after the fuse, all under the hood, and I got same results.

I have a 2003 chevy duramax, running a stock deck and a hi to low converter....

does anyone know what the hell is going on?

What do you mean you got the same results? They all tested good or they all tested bad?

when testing with the power wire in the amp, it reads 1.4 volts, but when the power wire is not in the amp, the voltage goes up to 12. i tested the entire power wire from the battery to the amp, and when plugged and unplugged, i got the same results

And you tried two different amps, and got the same results?

yep originally thought first amp was blown, but when i put the second amp in, and it repeated, now im thinking a wiring problem

Hmm, that's pretty strange. My first thought would be some kind of short, but I would think that would cause the fuse to blow...idk what to tell you man, I'm stumped, lol.

put a new fuse in see wat happens. what is happening is when you put a load on the wire somewhere in it it is causing a split in the circuit not givng you power but when there is no load it stays fine.

anyway foolios...I got the problem solved...IT WAS THE FREEKIN INLINE FUSE. it wasnt blown, but something inside wasnt connected

got a new inline fuse and im good to go
