Never attempted to build a ported box before, any suggestions on a sub that would hit hard and tight in a sealed box? Or I guess I could attempt to build a ported box,--Any ideas on where I could get some plans on making such a thing??

Look in the enclosure section. Theres a sticky of moe lesters plans. I used 1 and pounds ****in good

Dude. That type R will wang if you port it in a custom built box. These guys are giving you good advice.

Which one of Moe Lesters plans would you recommend? I want it to be small so I can save some cargo space. What do you mean by tuning it to whatever Hz, Is it tuned just by the design? If this don't make my type-r hit better, I am going to try a different sub in a small sealed box . If so, Any ideas on a different sub??

if you want it to hit hard i wouold say go with 2 10's....my 12's hit hard but not as hard as my brothers 10's in a sealed box...they are getting around 1.0 cubes each with a 750 mono amp

I don't want to attempt to build a ported box so I am thinking about getting another type-r and building a sealed box for 2 12's. The amp is a Hifonics bx1000d rated at 1000 watts @ 1 ohm. Also the amp has 2 positives and 2 negatives for speaker outputs. The subs are dual 4 ohm. Can I wire the subs for a 1 ohm load to the amp? If so, How would I do this??

1 ported will hit way harder then 2 sealed in the wrong airspace.

Use the same airspace but use one sub and make the box ported.There are a few good guys on here that can make you a box in a few days and ship it to you.

Make the box right for the sub,dont make the wrong box for 2 subs.

If you want small sealed that hits hard maybe look at something like ID, Arc, Soundsplinter, etc.

I'm not saying the Type R isn't good, it just doesn't sound like that's a good sub for a small sealed enclosure.

the ones I mentioned will all do really well in small sealed boxes.

Just made a slot ported box using one of moe lesters plans- 2.0 cu.ft.@35Hz. How should the settings on my Hifonics bx1000d be set at for this? Lowpass?Subsonic?Bass Boost?

you said the gain was at 4 volts? if i did the math right it should be at just over 38
