Unhappy with new system

Just installed new system in my '97 Grand Cherokee. Pioneer Premier head unit ; Mbquart components in front doors and Mbquart 2-ways in rear doors ; U.S.acoustics 4065 4 channel amp(for door speakers) ; 12" Alpine type-r in a 1.0 cube sealed box ; Hifonics bx1000d mono amp(for sub). Not getting that hard hitting tight bass out of the sub like I expected. Should I sell the sub and get a different one?-Or maybe the amp?(don't think its the amp though)-Any ideas??

i would say make a ported box. I think u will be happy once the R is ported. I havent heard a ported Type R but i did hear a sealed 1 and i wasnt impressed at all either.

The sub is a dual 4 ohm ,so it is wired for 2 ohms to the amp.

Did you play with the settings on your headunit? how are the gains set? How about the other amplifier settings like hpf, lpf, etc...

Supposed to put out 450 @ 4 ohms ; 750 @ 2 ohms and 1000 @ 1 ohm

2-2.5cf ported tuned to 30-35 depending on what u wanna do w/ it FTMFW!!

Also settings on the amp are: lowpass about 80 Hz ; subsonic at 0 ; Phase at 0 ; bass boost at 0 ; gain about halfway(4 volts)

Never attempted to build a ported box before, any suggestions on a sub that would hit hard and tight in a sealed box? Or I guess I could attempt to build a ported box,--Any ideas on where I could get some plans on making such a thing??
