Maybe I have a huge impedance rise with my box. Never measured it.

How do you measure this stuff and power your using, with a standard multi meter and when system is on/playing?

Box rise= impedence rise due to heat, the voice coil makes the impedence correct. But when it heats up it varies.

Yes, but that sitting without the subs play. There is an imp. rise due to other factors. I believe it has to do with heat and the box. So more than likely, you'll be running more like 2+ ohms then 1 ohm, even though your subs are wired to 1 ohm.

I just recently got a kicker zx1500 which supposedly does around 1700 watts rms. I have been running the amp at almost full power and the subs take the 750 watts easy. The subs are in a ported box.

I have a older Type R 10" that will be getting up to 1400rms, should be interesting.

It survived but stinks now, it is hating life. I would say I was giving it about 1200 rms to a 10" and it did 141.x db.

Just be smart about it. I have two MB Quart 12's in my Jimmy that are rated at 300rms each. I have a solid 2000rms on them. They will get a little smelly if I crank it up for too long, but they are taking way more than what they should.

Well if you want to be on the safe side then don't give more than 600~700 watts RMS to each. I've seen them take 1000 watts RMS a piece but the suspension looked like they were at the point of ripping itself apart.

you can give em 1k unclipped. i know someone who has a pair of the older ones with a aq2200 on them. i had a pair on a sae1200 and no problems.

I think I'll go with Type R's with my 2k watts @ 1ohm, I'll just leave the gain all the way down and turn down every bit of bass boost from the HU.

I set my gains with the sub level all the way up on my HU for the full 2v of signal and just use that for bass control.
