Thrifty sub faceoff: PPI SN.10 vs. JBL power P-1000

Cheap 10 inch sub plus 200 watts plus a sealed box equals a very quiet setup.

Only way to make magic happen is a 1/4 transmission line box which will hit hard on 200 watts

Only way to make cheap and low powered work is with a big advanced enclosure optimized for output and sound quality with very little input power

Precision Power doesn't publish Xmax for the Sedona subwoofers, which is bizarre. JBL Power subwoofers are all 5 ohms nominal, so your 200W @ 4 ohms would make a little less power. Xmax is 0.3", which is typical for a low power subwoofer.

A ported enclosure tuned for a large bump in the frequency response is the only sensible option if you have a desire to maximize loudness. If it must be a small sealed enclosure you need more excursion and a lot more power.

Maybe I meant to say "sound better" instead of "hit harder". I realize a bigger ported box would be optimal, but both my cars are daily drivers...so trunk space is at a premium... thanks for the sensible replies.
