TC-9 12" Sub for my 06 Chevy Cobalt

I am looking for a decent "one" sub in a sealed box that will hit hard and sound clean. I have a Memphis PRD1.1000 amp which does 1000RMS x 1 channel @1ohm load so I need a sub to handle it. I have been looking around at the best sub for a under $250 price range. I found this one http://www.tcsounds.com/tc9.htm . I posted a thread a few back about JL Audio, but realized you don't get much of there product for $700....RIP OFF!

The TC-9 is pretty much as the description stated...the motor is a classic and was used in other great subs as TC-Sounds is a build house and makes subs for other companies. These subs were pretty much Killers when they first came out as the moters were strong, they handled big power, had big Xmax, and were very clean and free of distortion....they were leaders of the pack.

Today, 2007 there are a tons of subs to choose from and there are many that get loud and take big power. Nevertheless, this new TC-9 at $179 sounds like it is just as good as ever and is probably better than many name brand subs that you could get at that price. TC Sound subs are clean with little overhang....

I THINK it means to wire it to a 1 ohm load and it will come out to be 1.4ohms???

It's safe to assume the coils are more like Dual 4 and it will wire down to 2Ohm final for the amp.

yup, you will get a 2 ohm load from that sub. and your amp won't have enough power for that sub at 2 ohms. the TC-9 will probably suit you just fine.

I ve got a TC Sounds TC-9 2ohm DVC with a nomex weave flat cone in my Cobalt, 500rms@4ohms in a 1cft sealed box, sounds great. I had it at 1500rms@ 1ohm and it sounded amazing, just having some problems with my amp, so I ve got to take it easy for now. I got mine from a guy on here on the cheap, let me know you re interested, I ll give you his info.

yup, you will get a 2 ohm load from that sub. and your amp won't have enough power for that sub at 2 ohms. the TC-9 will probably suit you just fine.

Yes, the DC resistance measures 1.4 Ohms but the nominal load will be 2 Ohms. So, your amp will only produce about 600 watts a that load. Not bad but just not the 1000 watts you were hoping for. Might be enough bass for you? You amp will run a little cooler.
