I'd loop tha remote into tha 12v.. & run a switch.

lol then why post? it's obviously wired wrong...if you had it wired by a shop, have them redo it, otherwise tear it out and start over

dont tear it apart, everthing else works so just correct the problem. Take the remote wire from ur headunit and connect it to the igintion wire of ur car. That wire is yellow, if i remember correctly, and remote wire should be blue. Everything should be good after that!

the yellow wire is a constant 12 volt wire.

red is a switched.

to the OP

have the radio taken out and reinstalled. running off the hedlights WILL cause a problem if left as is.

Actually the fact that the radios clock reset means that the 12v constant for the HU is wired wrong. could be ran to the fuse for the headlights instead of the battery.

He loses his presets. That means that the constant power supply to the HU is shutting off. If you don't know what you're doing, bring it in somewhere respectable and have them reinstall it for you. If you don't know what all the wires do, it's better not to mess with them.
