Subs with thin tall surround and high xmax

why do you talk?
the motor hasn't changed significantly? because you know? well i think you should start hanging out with cotjones...

DD definitely didn't do anything to the motor besides make the coils longer...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

please for the love of God...shut it...
Its not my intent to start anything. But, he really isn't some nooblet like cot jones. He knows his stuff.

I'm not anti dd at all. But, they really haven't changed their drivers in a very long time. Yes the 9500 series and the 9900 series are solid spl drivers. But I know for a fact that a lot of people in this thread are commenting on things that they know nothing about

9500s have worked great for daily setups, I am not trying to say this as if i were a kid that didn't know... I have played with them before.

I got carried away, I shouldn't have said that. but if you know what youre doing you can make them sound good.

sorry, I am not trying to start anything. but you can't generalize the way a speaker sounds just because some people don't have an install that sounds good...obviously you know the box is important...

I have heard sh!tty sounding systems with dd's and I have heard good. all depends on the install.

same goes for every other brand out there...

I can agree with you on that one. EVERYTHING is install dependent. Unless you are running pyle dryvers that is.

like i said i got carried away, and I am sorry I shouldn't disrespect...

but you can't classify all dd's as being crappy daily drivers....

buddy of mine has 2 9515's with around 3kw to each and they sound great...

now the 9900's... I would imagine not so much...

The motor has gotten ever so slightly larger, and they have changed the cooling modifications slightly. None of the changes have much of an effect on the BL curve of the driver, or its xmax. The only thing that has been changed that has altered xmax significantly has a been a steadily increasing voice coil length as it has gone through its various revisions.

Well seeing how 2 9515's worked great for a daily setup, I will have to disagree with it sounding crappy...and while I have to agree that the lanes doesn't have very much to do with playing, I will say that you may not know about street beat.

anyways, there is no reason to make this thread a pissing contest...

we all get it, you know it all.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

winning an argument on a internet forum is like being the smartest kid with down syndrome.... in the end your still retarded.
I never said the DRIVER sounds crappy, I said at those excursion levels, it sounds awful. If you can't hear the distortion at those excursion levels, your hearing is awful, or your ability to hear distortion is awful. Take your pick.

this is called the anti-DD syndrome.the patient makes every possible effort to degrade DD's value wherever he is-whatever he does 24hours a day.the causes of this disease are not well known and must be a malfunction of the brain after a lot of DD victories the patient couldn't stand.the conservative treatment consists of a drug called Woofer Support and the patient should take three times daily before any login to forums.if this fails after 3 months the patient must go the surgical way to remove any brain damaged cells.the success rate is 1% and goes lower if the patient has a peanut size brain as the current case.luckily it's not contagious.
P.S. all of the patients that had this syndrome had zero *** activity and never had the chance to have a real girl.

i checked your posts and all of them have the same aggressive style.the only thing doing here all the time is trying to say something different just to argue and make impressions.why don't you see a psychiatrist?

and if it's not of any concern to you why are you still arguing with me?
Wow, I don't know why you even bothered to post such mindless drivel. You criticizing my intelligence is rather ironic, I must say. You have failed. Miserably.

Warbleed is 100% right, sorry guys. DD hasn't posted their xmax figures ever, because to the average person they would look less than stellar. Maybe DD would if they also put an asterisk that says: hey idiots, xmax isn't everything, especially in SPL.

Guys, DD builds subs that, for the most part, are meant to play at/near tuning in a vented system, burping for relatively brief periods of time. If you suggest the 9500's purpose is anything else but that, well then you need to move to the back of the classroom right now.

That is not to say a 9500 (or similar) cannot work in a daily setup, but it WILL come with its drawbacks: poor SQ, cooling system not intended for daily use, and less over all displacement potential. Dont like it, too bad, that's reality guys.

Relatively low xmax drivers that can soak up LOTS of power like the 9500's are gonna do great 'in the lanes', but when playing music with its transient peaks/valleys and continuously varying frequency responses, those types of drivers simply dont do as well, that's not their intended purpose.

A couple people here want everyone to believe this is only about people being fans, or anti-fans of DD. Are you people smoking crack? DD is not the center of the universe and people's motives do not revolve around making or breaking Digital Designs online reputation.

Lets see, a couple guys get bent when Warbleed states some facts that shed a less than stellar light on their brand name subs. Then these DD owners claim its because of an anti-bias against DD. Who has the vested interest here guys? Hmmm? The guy who does not own a DD sub (that I know of... Warbleed), or the guys who do own their subs and are defending them?

luv2bass, your last question (and only real comment) in your post was why is Warbleed still arguing with you. Uhm, because he is right, and you are just acting like an *** because you dont like the facts? Or do you really think your sarcastic (and not funny) post really contributed anything real and helpful to this discussion? I agree, he shouldn't argue with you anymore, you dont even pose any arguement worth disputing.

The real bias here is FOR DD. Personally, Im a big DD fan, but I know their intended uses, and their limitations. Im not some noob who thinks the 9500 can (and does) own in the SPL lanes, then turn around and make a 'great sounding' daily driver sub. The guys running MT's daily love trying to convince us they sound 'great' too. To thoise people Id ask, do you really know what 'great' sounds like. Ive heard alot of 9500 setups by now, many were "daily" setups (lol right), Ive heard a few that sounded pretty decent... Ive never heard any that sounded anywhere near 'great'. Eventhough most of those systems' owners had assured me they did indeed sound great. I guess people who buy SPL subs have pretty low standards for what 'great' sounding is.

Wowzers. Audioholic and I agree, 100%.

XtremeBassJunky and Luv2Bass, if you still think you're correct. Come back with QUANTITATIVE FACTS and prove we're wrong.

Do it.
