Subs with thin tall surround and high xmax

In the end hasn't DD proven themselves in the lanes?
I have seen nothing but good results from people who know what they are doing... (eg louisiana_crx)
How they do "in the lanes" has nothing to do with Xmax and is irrelevant in this conversation.

so far nothing that has been said impressed me more than than the vid of the 9515. dont think i could care less about its xmax after seeing that. compliments on that track it was awesome

Yea you bet, even though it sounds absurdly awful at that level of excursion with 30%+ distortion.

Who needs accurate sound when you have BWARP BWARP FART BWARP instead of kickdrums. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

meh.
true..it isn't very pertinent...

but apparently their method works for them...

and it seems to show...
Works for bass farting yes, music, not so much. They are pretty mediocre in that respect. Unfortunately for most of the clueless fools out there, when it comes to how a driver plays MUSIC, "the lanes" are 100% meaningless...not my opinion, just a fact.

The 8mm in gap spec is an absolute joke, anyone who doesn't understand why doesn't deserve to speak on the subject.

The voice coil length of dual 2ohms is 42 mm and the gap height 32mm.This is not underhung.I have done the recone myself and have the old coil.
The 14mm xmax you are refering to is based probably in a dumax test in a 9515 B series and is 12.9mm exactly.I don't know about the B series voice coil and gap height.

If you see the sub moving almost 3 inches back and forth by its own motor power without audible distortion you call this just throw?
You are smoking crack if you think that driver doesn't have audible distortion at 38mm one way, or you are just deaf. Take your pick. At that excursion, distortion on that driver is well over 30%, if not 40%. Some of the assumptions these people are making are astonishingly poorly thought out, and equally poorly reasoned. Xmax on the current models is about 19-20mm. I also sincerely doubt that driver would EVER get to 3" p2p, as the little shitty 5" chinese linen spiders they keep under the top spider would surely break.

The 9500 series has about 14mm of xmax if I recall correctly. And again, you're confusing xmax with the throw of the sub. DDs use an underhung motor design which almost always yields a smaller voice coil length and lower xmax. This does NOT mean that it's total throw is limited nor does it mean it sucks like people seem to thing. Contact DD and ask them if you don't believe me.
The xmax number you are referring to was from the B series 9500 that got DUMAX'd. The current models have about 19-20mm xmax. They are not underhung, they are overhung, LGLC style drivers. The 9100 was the only DD driver that was underhung, and the 9000 was evenhung at one point. The Voice Coil Overhang method {(VC length - gap height) / 2} is not a very accurate xmax method for most drivers, especially for LGLC style drivers, as their actual xmax (70% BL) is significantly higher than VC overhang, but its not as high as DD wants you to believe it is. The 8mm in gap bullshit that they list is an arbitrary joke, that no person educated on the subject would EVER take seriously. Hence you only see ignorant people and/or retards actually taking it seriously.

Their xmax is still far from impressive. Always has been, always will be.

where did you find this info?
did you measure it?
Logical extrapolation based on the modifications made to the driver since the B series was tested. The motor really hasn't changed significantly, with top plate still being 32mm long. All that is changed as that the models have progressed, DD makes the coils slightly longer each time. At the current length, given the VC to gap ratio of the driver, you're looking at about 18-20mm xmax, tops.

You can get butthurt about it because you're a foolish DD fanboi who doesn't understand speakers at all, but that's hardly of any concern to me.

this is called the anti-DD syndrome.the patient makes every possible effort to degrade DD's value wherever he is-whatever he does 24hours a day.the causes of this disease are not well known and must be a malfunction of the brain after a lot of DD victories the patient couldn't stand.the conservative treatment consists of a drug called Woofer Support and the patient should take three times daily before any login to forums.if this fails after 3 months the patient must go the surgical way to remove any brain damaged cells.the success rate is 1% and goes lower if the patient has a peanut size brain as the current case.luckily it's not contagious.

P.S. all of the patients that had this syndrome had zero *** activity and never had the chance to have a real girl.

i checked your posts and all of them have the same aggressive style.the only thing doing here all the time is trying to say something different just to argue and make impressions.why don't you see a psychiatrist?

and if it's not of any concern to you why are you still arguing with me?

Well seeing how 2 9515's worked great for a daily setup, I will have to disagree with it sounding crappy...

and while I have to agree that the lanes doesn't have very much to do with playing, I will say that you may not know about street beat.

anyways, there is no reason to make this thread a pissing contest...

we all get it, you know it all.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

winning an argument on a internet forum is like being the smartest kid with down syndrome.... in the end your still retarded.

why do you talk?

the motor hasn't changed significantly? because you know? well i think you should start hanging out with cotjones...

DD definitely didn't do anything to the motor besides make the coils longer...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
