Sub thumps with volume at 0

I dont know y. i just noticed it a few days ago. my sub will produce low frequency sounds when i have my HU volume at 0. actually it does it when the volume is at any level, but if the volume is too high, i cant hear it. it only seems to do it when i take turns or hit bumps. not when i accelerate. any ideas?

Does it just randomly make sounds or does it occur when you eject cd's, power up and power down the HU? To me it sounds like a problem with your RCA wires, check to make sure that they are secure and that they arent touching any other metal. Also I had a similar problem a while back, ended up being that the Sub Pre-Out on my HU was going bad.

Faulty headunit...I've got the same problem.

Also, do those low frequency sounds correspond to when the HU is changing tracks?

I hear the low freq. from my pioneer whenever the laser head inside the unit moves.

it makes sounds when the car is shaked (around turns, over bumps, etc). thats the only time it does it. it could be RCAs, but how would they all of a sudden go bad? without me even touching them?

cant be a bad HU, cause i just got my cda-9855 in today and it does it with that HU also. but, i think it might happen when i change tracks. ill have to double check that 1.

when turned or when the car flexes, it can pinch a wire between a panel and something else. you have to realize how much a car really does flex.

that makes no sense

There is truth to that, but he needed to elaborate....

Firs thing that comes to mind for me is the grounds, make sure they are tight connections. Might want to relocate the ground as well, and see what happens.

But it might just be the HU, there are people on here who say they had problems with that and when they swapped HU's, the problems stopped.

Could be the RCA's as well though, I would go to the grounds first, fixed my problem.

it doesnt make ground noise though. it like...bumps. doesnt sound like ground noise. besides, i have a really good ground. and like i said above it cant be the HU, cause i got my new deck in today and it still does it

What would you call a ground noise? My subs thumped when I changed the CD, and BOOMED when I turned off the car, I changed the ground and it solved it.
