Sub terminals question

Hey guys so I've got an alpine type s 12 sub coming in the mail and i thought about something. So it's got 8 gauge push terminals.So its a dual 4 ohm being wired to 2 ohms so ill be connecting the voice coils. So my question is will two pieces of 12 gauge speaker wire twisted together fit in a terminal? It seems like it might be too big. Thanks for the help.

You'll be fine using 16 ga wire. I'm familiar with those push terminals, as a lot of companies use them, and they will not take 2 strands of 12 ga wire.

Well dang I guess i wasted some money on the 12 gauge. Would 3mm speaker wire work? I've got some e2 in 3mm on hand

I did some looking and it looks like the sub actually comes with 2 banana plug jumpers, so use those to connect the voice coils, and then just run the 12 gauge from the positive on one voice coil and the negative on the other to the amp?

If they are the banana plugs that come with most alpine subs, you won't be able to fit anything along with the jumpers. I don't really get how those work.

Installed 2 type S 10's yesterday and we ditched those jumpers. Just used some low-strand copper 14-16awg wire.

And we can't really tell you what will fit. You can just get reducers, or just cut some wires so it will fit in there, that way, it's technically still the same size wire, but it's reduced at the inputs. Plus, I don't think you even need 12awg until you get up to 1k rms or something? Look up a wire chart. Just fit the biggest you can get. Use smaller wiring to jump the voice coils, bigger (biggest) for coil(s) to amplifier.

I think you are just being to anxious on this sub, just wait for the sub and try whatever wire you got geesh
