you better learn how to use that ipod give or take 5 years cds will be gone

Funny you mention this, my ol ladies terrain is a pita to try and change the headunit. Her nav is giving her issues and i would like to replace it but cant find anything to put it.

Looks like starting in 2014 some car manufacturers will start to leave out the cd player completely how long before the aftermarket follows suite?
I love my 9887 and only use but yesterday when playing tones I couldn't even get 1-2 seconds without it skipping. Think I may test outa 149bt in the near future. I'd prefer using CDs over USB bt or iPod any day. A lot if the new cars have touch screens and sat radio now a days.

in a lot of these new cars it's getting harder and harder to replace the head unit, a lot of the functions in the car go through it
yea and its ridiculous! the only reason i still have the stock head unit in my g6 is because Pontiac thought it would be a good idea to wire the entire brain of the car to the headunit. so now im forced to spend the same amount on a dam dash kit as i would the cd player. i know i can still run it without the dashkit but i happen to like knowing what is going on with my car. oil life, mileage, auto light b.s, and all the other dam functions pontiac thought would be a good idea to run to the head unit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wallbash.gif.1310150c49dd52e0fbe1813a0681e5c3.gif

My girls car doesnt have a cd player either. Not a fan in the least bit. Also not a fan of having all the cars crap wired in the head unit. The stuff there doing is great for alot of the average users out there who dont do anything with the audio in there car except add a sub or some 4 way 6x9's (yuck). But for people into this hoppy is just a kick in the nuts.

that would be nice if they started using SSD in HU so u can just upload ur music to the HU instead, i know some u can rip music to the HDD, but HDD **** in a car since so much shock, either that or they will have an option in the rear to add a cd player like we did for ipods
