Sub Showdown

hi guys

really cool forums!!

i have decided to upgrade my install from previously having Pioneer subs with which i did 144,1dB on a Termlab meter at a comp. i loved the install and the subs were getting 600w rms but now i want something with better SQ, low end extension and louder

i've been doing my research and listening to plenty of demos in other cars so i hav narrowed my sub search down to the following 12" subs

1.) Earthquake DBXR-12D

2.) Kicker 05CVR12-4

3.) MTX T8512-44

4.) Rockford Fosgate P312D4

pls help me make my final decision. have any of you had experiences with these subs?

i will be running the 2 12" subs off a Rockford Fosgate T8002 on which the birthsheet says 1500w @2ohm

uh. you can get way better equipment than any of that. imo the CVR is the best bang for your buck on that list. i would also throw in the alpine type R - wich imo sounds better and gets WAY louder than the afformentioned subs.

what is your budget for the subs? i would only touch those if i had a 120v\60hz outlet to smoke them with.

have u guys heard any Earthquake products? i hav found their products to be of much better value for money when compared to others

the new Vibe subs have dissappointed me greatly and i'm hesitant on buying Kickers because after hearing a few L7 installs, whoaa, lemme just say they do nothin else but get loud. just my opinion

you have to know how to install an L7 to make it sound good imo. the CVR sounds nothing like it. im not a fan of earthquake because they arent a very good buisness to deal with, i read a story about one of their sponsored competitors, and lets just say he retired because of earthquake.

lanzar is poop; so dont compare anything to them. sorry to hear that you are in southafrica. but im not sure if mike (owner of soundsplinter) will ship there. i know Resonant engineering has shipped out of country before. might wanna call them up http://www.reaudio.com and order a SE or a SX. they would blow everything in that list away to be quite honest. the soundsplinter subs would sound amazing. just make sure you have a quality ampifier that does RMS of whatever you are installing and you will be good to go.

you should lurk around these forums for a few weeks and read up on some stuff before you go buying anything. i guarantee you will be 100% satisfied if you wait.

thx dude

i am more than willing to wait until my mind is at ease as i've made the mistake of buying too quickly

but on the Earthquake subject...besides their company flaws, how do you guys rate the subs because i have heard their cheaper range and was very impressed. i also know the distributor personally and he will give me a great deal

RE's ....i wish but i'll ask them if they ship to SA

the P3 and the 8500 arnt even in the same class. hell the 7500 out classes the P3. same thing with the CVR. i havent hurd the earthquake sub so i cant coment

8500>all....pretty dam pricy though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The BS says 1500 watts?? I highly doubt that.

Even of the same amount of power? I mean a Type R running off like 400 is gonna sound better and be louder than a CVR off the same?
