sub recommendation dc 3.5k

Uh oh...we gotta DC expert in here....
considering you know **** yea i'm an expert.

guy that is doing 155 with one 4kw said he was told to build a huge box they loved huge unlike what i've heard for alot of people so Id call and at least inquire before you waste your money..

they have no parameters so no way to tell the CMS,RMS or QMS...

What line? 4kw isnt much power so the large enclosure was likely to compensate.... dc is known for ****** softparts and triple joint failures. I wouldnt run them in large enclosures unless under powered.

And yes, DCs usually like small to medium size enclosures

I looked and found parameters. Im guessing he had the Stiff spiders for SPL. you can choose from a very soft spider to extra stiff. i wouldn't waste my time with a really small box design with 5.5 VS A extra stiff spider level 6 15 Ig do the 15

Have you ran DC Audio before? I'm guessing no so wtf are you commenting????

Dude. You just cant understand i build drivers can you.

The parameters tell you everything about the driver.

Fyi a qms abve 7 is considered underdamped mechanically. Coupled with a low qes i suggest a small box. Which is not ideal for alot of ported alignment when its higher than 10 unless you use a very small box.

The small box kills efficecy and lowend extension.

Hence spl drivers use high mechanical damping to use the larger alignments increasing efficency drastically without having mechanical issues.

The dc has a qms of 22. Id use the stiff spider and 7 cubes otherwise something like a dd 9915 with stiff spiders in 5 cubes would do better..

Oh I'm sorry. You build drivers on a daily bases?? No you don't. You never answered my question. Have you ever ran DC Audio subs? What you really do is run your mouth on this forum shitting on everyone's post and tell them they can do better as long as it's your way. Wake e phuck up and smell the coffee. Not everyone want's to be like you.Y

I dont have to use a ******* woofer to know how it will respond to a given alignment.

The parameters describe the aspects of the woofer.

You need to learn how speakers work instead of telling someone who know how to build different drivers for different alignments.

High qms means a underdamped mechanical suspension.

This means you rely of tge acoustical dampening for mechanical control over the moving parts.

Thats why high qms drivers require small boxes.

Thats why the dc woofers have nechanical issues.

I wouldnt use a driver ported that has a high qms because above tuning tge driver acts as is it where freeair and the output as well as mechanical power handling goes down very greatly.

It like having a low pass crossover..

AA Mayhem
I've ran it as an 18 and a 12.

Still do this day it's my favorite woofer to date.
They are some very strong over motored drivers. Tgey can go in small boxes but love bigger boxes when you want killer lowend.

Very punchy and responsive and very efficent. Great spl woofer..

@DCbass i designed him an enclosure for 4 dc level 5s.
Any feedback on that design dc?.
Fyi i talked to rusty because i wasnt fimilar with the drivers. Dcbass said he liked the design. Im curious to know though how it sounds..

Its so musical compared to everything else I've ran.

OP I ran an HDC3 for about a year, it a solid driver but nothing compared to whats been mentioned in this thread.

I think the hdc3 is one of the worst sounding woofers but none the less they do meter very well. Lol

A ssa evil would smoke it for daily.

The mayhem would too. Lol

The team is a beast and would do nicely off a 3500 at 1/2ohm..
