but is 100% fine full tilt on lows

did I damage the sub?

Is it going to die no matter what now? Or can it still work if I don't feed it higher hz or go too loud?

Pretty sure I damaged it by playing it too loud since I got used to the DB's recently.

I'm lost. So, you only notice a 'rattling' sound at low volumes? Do you notice it any more or less between different frequencies? Can you hear or feel anything when you simply press in on the driver with your hand? Also, have you noticed any difference in sound, other than the rattling, since it began?

Yeah only at low volume and with any frequency

no sounds when i press on it, its hard to hear anythin when its rattling. Ill try to take a vid of it and check the coils

It sounds like its blown. I had some old alpine's that did something like that after I started using the bass boost. It actually sounded more like paper flapping at a certain hz. Most of the time it sounded fine except for one part of a song that made that paper flap noise. I ended up buying some new one's and never used the bass boost on any amp because I'm pretty sure it caused that too happen to my subs.

Prolly the spider seperating from the former.

if this is the case the spider is moving freely on the former causing the noise which might be repairable depending on basket design.

Pull the sub check the coils with dmm then check for spider seperation at former and spider landing ..also inspect the tinsel leads good ...could possibly be fixed if u caught it soon enough..what sub?

i have a sub that does the same thing it rattles, at low volume you can hear it but turn it up and you can't hear it. it's been that way for a long time but never got worse and i hammer it. still don't know what it is, but it irritates me cause i like to listen to music on a low level some times and i hear it.
