Needs some help with subs

Alright I'm basically a newb so thats why I gotta ask for advice etc..

I am trying to decided which sub to pick up this weekend. Both $130ea no box.

Alpine Type R SWR-12D4

or

kicker L7 12

find out if the L7 is duel 2 or 4 ohm........ I prefer the l7's over the type R....... but they will be much the muchness

If you can get the type r in a d 2 I'd get it. Have had both the type r sounds better and should take the power

^^^^This is true. I've had 2 R 10s and loved em, although they both blew on me. But, this was by running em on a somewhat dirty power supply. Run the R's cleanly, I cannot stress that enough. Good luck!!

your not gonna like either subs with that amount of power you'll barely get any bass.

Suggestions? from what I know 300 rms @ 1 ch bridge 4ohm but I ran through 3 400 rms dual 4ohms and blew them like it was nothing.. or am I not reading and understanding it correctly?

Yeah, if I could afford a jl w7 or dc sub I would but I gotta think about price range too.

His Rockford t5002 is a power house amp that usually do 800ish and soome times more power at 2ohm vs 1ohm. They were always rated very close at either load. That bein said my t8002 would not run daily at 1ohm without hittin protect despite the 1ohm rating(1456rms) on the birthsheet. Id suggest a dual 4ohm sub from my experience.

might not be 2 ohm stable in bridged mode tho .if he gets the d2 he can run it at 4 or 1 ohm whichever is better for the amp

what model are you talking about? coz I have looked and none of them do more pwr at 2 ohm than 1 ohm. unless you have two and strap them
