Sub quit working all of a sudden

i was driving and all of a sudden the sub quit. i immediately pulled over and looked in the trunk and no smoke and no stiffness of the subwoofer. Ive blown 2 subwoofers before and this isnt anything like it. This is a brand new subwoofer and brand new amplifier. Just got them put in almost 3 weeks ago. I had the same system before except the old amp had swollen caps so i just replaced the whole system after it blew the subwoofer, just had to attach the wires and it was done.

Amp is a JBL GTO 1201.1 II running a JBL P1222 12'' subwoofer. 4awg wires used

ive pulled the sub out, checked the wires inside the enclosure to be sure they are still on the sub which they are. Checked audio cables to make sure they are connected to the back of the deck and they are. Checked all fuses and all are good. Checked battery terminal, connected and no corrosion. Amp is getting power, confirmed with LED on other side of amp, protection light off, and 14.5v on the power wire with voltmeter. The amp has a clear plexyglass cover on it, no defects on the inside.

Not sure what else to check... Any ideas?

check resistance of coils on the sub. possibly a signal issue?
if im not stupid and set the voltmeter right, it started at -1.1 then kept going until it reached -9.9 then started over again.

Ive been told not to get a cap by many people running around 1200 watts. Used this same setup for over a year now and just got a new amp, new sub (same as old one - previous ones blew -- swollen caps on amp and blown sub) without any problems like this.

Wired exactly the same

wire from enclosure to + and - on outside plugin things and one wire from - to + on the inside.

Blown

Get a dmm(digital multi meter) and put it on the ohm setting test the coil/coils and see what it says if it reads right around what the sub ohm is 4, 2, or whatever they are most likely good if they are way off or no reading then there is your prob. Hope this helps

aight so one of the voice coils is blown. Im an idiot and was testing ohms on the amp itself rofl yeah i know.... first voice coil was giving less than 1 and the other around 2.2. So im getting it warrantied, for the 4th time. I think i might get my money back. Ive had professionals isntall the stuff before and it still blows. Might it be that im over powering the sub using the GTO 1201.1? Ive seen people use 2 1201.1's and 2 p1222 subs with no problem... Should i just pay $60.00 more and get an Alpine TypeR 12'' or stick with the p1222. Running large ported enclosure, not sure of dimensions but here is a pic of it to get a general idea.

I think you should have a better box built on that is made for the sub. This can be done by someone local (im sure someone on here can help you) as prefab boxes are trash. And yea I would just upgrade maybe talk some smack to them and say you are tired of getting bad subs and they should give you a discount for the alpine so you can remain a faithful customer. Hey it might work. And I doubt your over powering it your most likely clipping it. I imagine you have your gain and bass boost all the way up if you have it. Am I right? Your sending dirty power to the sub and thats what is blowing it in my opinion that is.
