so im building a new box sub back port up in my 01 explorer

is it ok that my sub is really close to the rear lift gate aslong as it doesnt touch it at full excursion? it could be within an inch or 2 of it at full excursion

i would think that it would be better if u gaveit some space, so that the subwoofers will have more room for the low notes to bounce off the trunk and come back to u in the front. ive heard it with the subs right up on the trunk in my friends jeep, and theres not enough air space for it to sound good.

dude with the box hes making it will be too close to the hatch, hes better off firing them up.

if he had an angled face that had the woofers firing to the rear glass. that would be better.

i cant so sub up port back thos...so my problem is that i work a delivery job so i cant hav my sub box and my back seats and still make the delivery (i deliver 15-25 boxes of labels at a time)

so my plan was to make a low wide box that would work as a cargo area on top of the box (having a lip so boxes couldnt slide over the port)

does this make sense? i can put up my concept drawing if it doesnt

why dont you just go subs and port to the rear then and not have to worry about a lip?

i cant do sub up...it jsut wont work out...and doing sub and port rear would make it higher id lose too much cargo area...this is a box that has to be more functional than most any other ideas?
