sub placement

I have a factory 10 in the rear deck running IB. If I want to put a box in the trunk, what should I do with the factory speaker? Should I take it out and let the bass enter the cab through it's hole? Should I face the box towards the trunk or try to fire it up into the hole? Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is a POS, so I'll take it out and put in a box. Do I fire the box back and let the sound go through the back deck hole or try to fire the new box into the hole?

You will want to close the hole with some fiberboard, like you would use in a sub box first.

Then you are going to want to clean that up and make it look nice.

Then get a sub box for your new subs and fire them into the back of your car. Like towards the trunk not towards the seats. This will create more vibration making it sound deeper. The closer it is to your tail lights the louder it will be!

Why do you say close the hole up? I removed my rear deck speakers, and just left the holes, (with the grills over it of course.) But it actually did allow more bass into the cabin after I did that...

And where you place the box is dependant on the car. I do not reccomend pointing it up towards the rear deck, or facing it to the rear (towards the back seats), because that will cause cancellation some tones. Faceing it towards the tail lights is normally the ideal choice, but try different ways and see which sounds best to YOU.

why would you want to close up that hole? it would be great for airflow from the trunk to the cabin. Just take the sub out, and put the grille back on so you cant obviously see the hole.

True True, I totally forgot about airflow my bad fellas. In my car though I had a sub someone put in with a box attached to my rear deck and I took it off and replaced with new subs and the hole made it worse for me, so that was just in my car though
