before i had my 15" type r in a 3.5^3 tuned to 32hz(slot port) but i had to put my spare tire in so i built another box that was 4^3 tuned to 28(aero)and now my sub is much quieter why could this be to big of a box or to low of a tunning

tuned lower so it may have a flatter response on the usual bass notes for certain types of music.

because of the size of the box.so tunning higher would not fix it

increasing box volume increase efficiency around tuning so low notes are probably a hell of alot louder... tune up to about 32-34 with more port area and it will be a bit louder from 30-45...
