I have a sony xplod stero with sub out connectors on the back, My question ( probably dumb ) is can i hook a sub up directly to the jack or do i have to go thru an amp. I dont care if its extermly loud or not, Just would like a little extra bass.

You need an amp bro. I really want to laugh at you, but I'm not going to. You need an amp. RCA's are to carry signals, not drive speakers.
It is sometimes hard to chose to laugh or help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Thanks for the advice guys, not sure why the insults, I wasnt trying to ask a stupid question, Just wasnt sure, thats why i asked, Thank you tho.

Welcome to the internet. It's a hard knock life to grow up here, but you'll learn a lot.
True that, I do appreciate the advice, I just dont feel like running power lines from the battery to the trunk.
