Sub makes popping noises?

Hmm...

The sub "pops" in higher frequencies. Honestly, this kinda sounds like an amp problem. If you're running at 1/2ohm, the amp might be falling on its face when tasked with a reactive load and causing all sorts of distortion so it doesn't smoke (yet). What I'd try first is rewiring the subs so you're not running a dead short and see if it still does the same thing. My guess, it won't.

If it's a sub, you should be able to tell if there's a problem by pushing the cone in & out with your hand. It'll also make noises if you're bottoming it out (past mechanical xmax)...but that typically would happen at freq. below the port tuning.

I have never in my life heard of breaking a sub in..Anyone??? Sounds like Excellent Customer service???? Id box that joker up and send it back!! I want a return no. for my warranty,as this item that I purchased from you with my hard earned money,is not working as it should, damaged upon arrival, and i will be sending it back under warranty!! Where did you buy that sub at??So we all know where not to buy from,??That total BS.I cant stand a buisness trying to jack a customer for theyre hard earned money..especially at these times.Never heard of any new sub needing any kind of a break-in period with banging and popping going on..Anyone??? Thats a bad sub brother...Box it up and send it in!!!I wouldnt buy anything else from that place..Good customer service would have been without question..first said-we will replace the item at no charge sir..Seems like everyones out to rip one another off these days..I dont get it??????????

It goes down smoothly. I had the hdc3 wired at .5 ohm and in the same box and amp. Never heard a popping noise from it.

Its directly from audioque. They said they dont have the recone in stock right now so I should just keep playing it to see if any changes happen until they get the recones.

REALLY??? Id bang the crap out of it!!!! Seriously..i would, and then send it back smelling like burnt cheese..MMM hmm
lol, and to your earlier post. I forgot to mention.. They actually have really good customer service. Im not trying to trash audioque or anything. Id definitely would buy from them again. Things happen, but thats why im trying to find out if the sub is the problem or not.

But if I get the chance tomorrow, ill wire it at 2 ohms just to test it out or ill put it in my friends car running at .5 ohm or something.
