Sub just stopped working....what now?

Hey all.

About a week ago I installed my new 18'' Fi BL to a Hifonics bxi1606D, and all was good with the world. It was loud, crisp, etc etc....but today I was just driving around out of pure boredom, and it just stopped hitting, or really even playing at all...

I tried playing different songs with different notes but nothing. So i gave it a quick external inspection and didn't find anything wrong...the sub had no external damage...the wiring was all correct, my gains on my amp set correctly, and the amp wasn't in protect.

I felt the sub and there was still sound coming through it, but not much at all....so what could the problem be? Maybe a connection inside the box on the terminal cups? Thanks in advance....

Do the subs have a burnt smell?

Try taking the sub out, or try checking the connections to your head unit.

Take it out of the box and check out the sub and your connections.

try upgrading the fuse on your power wire

... if the amp is on, and isn't in protect, a fuse shouldn't be the problem...

yea but you never know, recently a sub problem of mine turned out to be a lack of a sufficient fuse, upgraded it to big ol 250 amp and haven't had the problem since...

i took the sub out and took a look at the voice coils...there was brown marks all over them..upon touching them I found that it was some sort of sticky substance, felt like maple syrup...could that be glue? idk, the connections inside the box are alright...

did a tinsel seperate? Had my MT do that to me Tuesday night. Guess thats what happens when you throw 2.5k at it on a 20-25hz song lol

To tell you the truth I am a noob and i don't really know what exactly the "tinsel" is...the silver part going to the cone? If that is what you are talking about, then ya those are alright...sorry for being a noob.
