Sub is too loud

Ive just installed and alpine type x sub to a directed audio d2400. the sub is wired 8ohm. Ive got alpine type x comps up front wired to my head unit.

The sub plays a bit too loud, even when gain is set low on the amp and on the head unit. I am planning on getting an amp for the fronts which can give them full power, will this improve the sound of the fronts and allow them to keep up with the sub?

Thanks, Jack.

All flaming aside...

You might want to look into getting an amplifier for your front speakers. They probably can't keep up just off head unit power. That and they start to clip earlier. If you can afford it, what kind of budget would you have for a 2-channel amp for your fronts?

Whoah! sorry guys didnt expect that. It was a serious question. i dont know too much about car audio, thats why i came here, and i was a little dissapointed by the front components and wanted to know if using an amp to power them would make them sound better. ive got around £100 to spend on a 2ch amp.

By the way, what did i say that got that reaction? Thanks.

You said that your sub is too loud? BLASPHEMY!

But really... they Type X speakers are very nice, and the difference between head unit power and amplifier power will be night and day. What kinds of amps are readily available to you? I don't know much about whats available over there. A hundred pounds ought to buy you a nice amp. Look for something thats about 100w RMS x 2 for the Type Xs

Sorry, i think i mis-phrased it. I probably should have said my fronts were too quiet!? The sub sounds good when it gets loud its just the speakers do start to clip a bit early and i cant take the sub as far as i want without it sounding too bassy. The brands ive been looking at are alpine, pionner, rockford fosgate. Ive seen a directed audio A208 (i think thats the name? It is within budget and is 150W rms. I could set the gain low and use that with my Type x's, right? Car audio seems to be nearly twice the price over here to what you pay, so i probably got the equivalent of around $130 to spend! Thanks, jack.

um yea if u didnt no tis he said the sub sounds louder then the front speakers and was wondering how to eather equil it out or help him find an amp to keep up with his sub.jeeze, such unnessary flaming

Be sure to see the sub specs. It should tell you the ideal sealed enclosure size.
