question for you guys.. i just wired up a sub and amp in my car.

2500 watt sub, 3000 watt amp hooked up to the battery.

i pretty much followed all the instructions word for word and my set up is looking like this:
how_to_install_a_car_amp.gif
(with only one sub)

as soon as everything was hooked up, the car wouldnt start. After listening to it for a bit, it completely drained my battery. no matter what we tried, it wouldnt start until we jumped it and i had to disconnect the amp to prevent the battery from dying again. Am i doing something wrong, or do i need a capacitor?

my alternator and battery are working fine, so i know thats not the case.

thanks in advanced,

-mark.

how long did you listen to it before trying to start? depending on your battery size, you may have just listened too long with the motor off...get the battery recharged, and then don't listen to it without the motor running!?

sounds like you just killed your bat by listening to it with your car off. unless you mean just having your amp installed and the system off is killing the bat. If that is the case, check the remote line to the amp. It SHOULD NOT be hot (have +12v) while the radio and car are off. If it is getting 12v with the car off, that will kill your bat by just having it plugged in. Other then that, cant think of anything else ATM.
