Sub froze up

Well, I had my system playing today, driving around...3/4 volume...

suddenly....everything quits and I smell something burning

Checked it all....one sub will not move even if I push it, when I turn on the amp...it hits for a couple of seconds, but that sub hardly moves at all, then the amp goes into protect.

now...can I disconnect 1 sub and run the other one off the amp still until I can get another sub.

I checked...I can either wire up the 1 sub at 2ohms...which would draw 300 watts from the amp, which is 125 watts OVER the rms of an RE8

OR

I can wire it down to 8ohms..but I dont know what wattage it would draw from the amp

I suppose since its 150X1@40hms, about 75-100watts??

or should I just wait and get another RE8....which will take some time to save up the money

Yeah, I know I can get them fairly cheap, but money is tight right now...

so...suggestions

also, I could buy 2 completely new subs, if anyone knows some 8's that have 4ohm DVC's and can handle 250watts each...

Something not too expensive though.

OR, maybe one 10 or 12, except I'd have to make a new box

Unwound the coil and its stuck in the gap.

time for new subs....what I figured...lol

anyway...how about some ideas as to which sub or subs

dont want to take up too much room in the trunk, the box I have now is 1.5cubes

btw what does "Unwound the coil and its stuck in the gap" mean?
