Hi, short time lurker, first time poster here.
I have a 2004 Ford Mustang Convertible with an Eclipse 8455 for the HU, Alpine SPS-571A for the front, SPS-571A for the rear, and a MRP-F240 amp.
I like what I have currently (although I probably paid too much for it, but I didn't know much at the time), but it's missing a little bit on the bass. So I'm hoping to pickup on that by getting a sub. -- The car sounds great when it's not moving (like you would figure with a convertible).
I have been looking at getting a JL Audio 250/1 amp and then a JL Audio Stealbox for the Mustang Convertible which comes with a 10W6AE. I was quoted $1,000 installed for both. -- Not sure if that's exactly a good deal. -- Seems a little high.
I also think only a 10" sub for the convertible might be a little bit too small and if I get a stealthbox I really can't take it to my next car if I get a new one, but then again a stealthbox fits nicely in the trunk, and I still get a little bit of trunk space. -- But then again, I have a SUV so who cares about trunk space in the Mustang, right?
I'm pretty good with woodworking (I still have all 10 fingers), can cut a straight board, and I have all the tools required to do so. I was thinking that I could build myself a box and put whatever speaker(s) I decide to put in it. I would like to keep everything at around $1,000 and wiring the car would be easy because when I had the original stuff put in the first time they wired it for a sub, so it should be as simple as build the box, put the speaker in the car, and plug it in. – One would hope. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on the Stealthbox (Good or Bad) and any other speakers with a box that I could build? -- Just as long as it fits in my trunk I'm happy.
Thanks,
marly
