Sub for Home Audio

I'm debating on buying a RESR 12" d2 (so I can wire to 4ohm) for my home audio setup. Or should I buy a Dayton Reference HF sub?

The RE would be cheaper on ebay, and I know their quality.

The amp for my home sub is a Dayton SA240 240W Subwoofer Amplifier

I think the sub box is about 1.25-1.5cf.

I have a older pioneer sub in the box now, just feel that I could replace it for better..

What are your thoughts?

it would work fine. i use cerwin vega 8 inch car subs and they do fine for a smaller room, on music anyway. they don't have the low end for HT. the box is not done right for HT anyway. ported tunings in the 20's are where it's at for home theater. not that i'm an expert by any stretch, but it's a night and day difference between the cerwin vega 8's and a cheap 15 in 6 cubes at 25hz. the cheap 15 (don't even know the brand) fills the room 10x better than the 2 8's. the enclosure for the 8's is tuned at 38hz also. they won't do ported in the 25 hz area very well.

i run 3 re re 12's from like '04 with the **** cone in 6 cu tuned to 19hz and they play great down low but above 50 and below 20 they have some trouble but they are so efficent i dont even need 200 watts to get them loud enough to rattle stuff off the walls

btw i have a lt/550 powering them though

your running 3 12's for HT?

I shouldn't need it to play above 50. I have a pair of Pioneer s-t500 tower speakers (each are dual 8") These are not mine.

Similar to these the other 8" is on back behind the front sub. (were made in 89! freaking 20 years old.. lol

Sounds good, think I'll get the RE SR, hmmm or a pair of RERE's for the same price lol.. then I could build another home sub and run duals? lol

heres my build right here:http://pwkdesigns.com/blog/index.php?entry=entry080926-100000 it gets down to the 25hz region with the amp gain 1/3 of the way up it shakes my whole house.

Wow your designs are amazing. I wish I could afford you. lol. thanks for the info.

I also wish I had more time, tools and space to make something similar.

I really cant say i told Pete i woudnt tell anyone,But for the build quality and the way it performs it was worth it.

Thats cool, glad it worked out for you...

so I ordered the dayton HF.. then I saw the HO, but it required more power.. this one should work out perfect. thanks for the opinions.
