sub feedback

I have a newer kenwood excelon cd player in my bird. This head unit comes equipped with a sub shut off switch that is controlled manually with the touch of a button. In the beginning this function would work without error, but now when i shut the subs off by means of this button, i recieve a little bit of feedback. This shutoff button, i believe, only shuts off the rca's and keeps the amp on. I have physically gone over all of the connections and they are tight on the HU and the amp. I dont know if my head unit could be going bad or what. If anyone has any knowledge to this fact, i would appreciate your input
