Sub Decisions....

Pretty soon I'm going to be looking into buying my first pickup truck and am trying to explore some sub options and configurations. I've always either had an SUV or car so this will be new to me, trying to get good sound in very limited space.

An underseat box is only going to allow me roughly 1.5-1.8 cubes total so I'm trying to decide if it would be better to go with 1 or 2 subs and should I go 10's or 12's. These subs may need to be shallow mount, as mounting depth will be 5-5.5". The box will be sealed and I'll probably throw about 600rms at the substage. I currently have a TC-Sounds LMS-R in a ported box on 1300rms. I know won't come close to the output of my current setup but as long the bass can get pretty low and have good SQ, that's all I'm looking for.

Those magnets look pretty beefy and not sure the mounting depth would work. The boxes I was looking at are down firing and that surround might stick out too far. Maybe I'll think about front firing. I have kids so that makes me a little nervous.

I've also never had 8's before.....If I were to do 4 8's (no particular brand) on say 800rms, would they get pretty low like a ported 12?
No u cant go buy something like Pyle 8" woofers and expect them to hammer... but if u got 800 watts prly two sundown E 8s would work

Definitely not going real cheap on the subs. Budget is probably $250 per sub. I just want those low freqs and good SQ. I'm sure they'll be plenty loud on 6-800rms.

sealed wont get you anywhere. two 8s ported will outdo two Shallowmount 10s sealed.

You can get 2 Sundown e10s I had them under the back seat of my truck back in the day they did just fine in my sealed box I was running about 1100rms to them. I had them in a 2001 Chevy Silverado

I have 2 shallow mount JL 12Tw3's and they sound very good. I have 2 in a 1.34 total cube box with a bunch of polyfil down firing. Tough to beat in limited space, you could also go with 10's and port the box

I would wait until you have boughten the vehicle 1st before buying anything audio related. Because sometimes it doesn't always work out for ya. Just sayin' because I've been there and maybe some other people have also. Also no specific vehicle was mentioned.....diff years will vary from make/models.

Also read about people buying a sub or 2 to go into a vehicle, built a box then find out it won't fit then end up on CL. Yes I've seen/read many times.

I definitely won't by buying anything until I get it. It's going to be either a 2016 or 2017 F-150. I'm just doing some preliminary planning since I'll have to get door speakers, amp, subs, enclosure, and processor.

I came across a Fox Acoustics box for 2 10's tuned to 36hz that I could fit regular subs in (made for the F-150), so I may not need shallow mount. I'm checking out some Sundown subs now. The last two subs I've had are the TC-Sounds LMS-R and a Fi Q, so I hope the Sundowns are comparable.
