sub cuts out at high volumes!! Help

Ok, try regrounding.Use the floor of the trunk. Grind the paint off and use a self tapping screw.

Also, break out a multimeter and check your voltage at the amp.
ok, i wired it to 8 ohms just to be safe. I also turned up the volume abit and went to the trunk and the amp was in protect mode. I then wiggled the ground cable abit and it completely shut off. I wiggled it and it seemed to jerk the power right out of the amp. I am going to try to reground right now. Also, what should my amp read if i meter it.

 
check the subs wiring. more than likely theres shorting going on in there somewhere. i just went through this problem earlier, and re wiring and making sure no positives touch negatives, it works as new now.
