sub buying help

ok so I'm looking to get 2 12" subs don't want **** subs but don't want to pay crazy amounts. Looking at the alpine SWS-12D4 which is gonna run roughly 100$ a piece.

Don't need anything main stream just a decent sub for a decent price.

Anything better for the same price? or as good for cheaper?

And sorry for posting the same thing that every other newb post, but I tried research and couldn't find anything that helpful.

american bass xfl 12's, 180 a 12 best bang for the buck... but if your looking for cheaper... i've had awesome luck with both the kenwood 3013ps and the xw12 excelon series but they tend to bottom out in ported boxes when slammed too hard, but my signature video is of the kenwood 12s

iv read kenwood subs tend to be loud but not very accurate.

ofcourse most brands have good and bad series, but I listen to metal and dub a lot and in which the bass is constantly changing so I was wondering if the kenwood 12's would still perform decent.

Without knowing how much power you're going to run (but looking at the Alpine S you threw out there) I'd say look at the Sundown E series. They're 99.99 at Carstereogiant right now and a pretty solid all-around subwoofer. The C2 Threatcons would've done well too but they're not on sale anymore.

Sundown Audio E12 v.2 D2 OB

as far as power I will soon be running a cadence fxa2000.1 unless you all think the fxa1600 would do fine.

im leaning to the kenwood's now since the rms is very close and you all said it performs nice, and I do have a sealed box for them.

would the sundown's really be worth the extra 40$ each.

You'd probably be happy with the Kenwood's. I would however, run them ported. Neither the Sundown or the Kenwood is going to like a sealed box and it's a waste of time imo. I don't like those particular Cadence amps you're looking at but either one would be ok to push the subs and doesn't look like you have a very big budget.

I guess im going with the kenwood then. thanks for the help everyone. Any reason why you don't like the amps specifically? just curious it seems to be a decent amp. my buddys jl amp acts more funny than this one does.

why ported out of curiosity also?

(edit: and unfortunately no my budget is not very big.

don't go over a 1000w with those kenwoods!!!!! 400w rms not much more maybe a 100 or 150 if clean.... my kenwoods were punchy but also hit the lows better than most.... those sundowns are nice....

I just don't like the lower line Cadence stuff but the 2000 mono seems ok. It's got 2 40 amp fuses (which I know isn't the all out indicator) but it should do it's rated 1000 watts.

I don't really run any subs sealed unless that's absolutely what the sub was built for. With the Kenwoods if you run them in a small, sealed, prefab box I think you're going to be disappointed. You're not going to get half the output you would with a ported box. Have someone build you around 4-4.5 cube box tuned around 32-34 with maybe an aero-port if space is an issue and you'll be very pleased.

You can get those a little cheaper than the $123. I've seen them for around 105. I always forget about the Pioneer's but you are correct. They're beasts for budget subs. I don't think OP wants to spend much more than 100 bucks though.
i've seen 'em on there for 89.00 a piece!!!! just check for price, ya i always forget about them too!!!

Go kenwoods, I know how budget projects go! I have two RE audio subs (Got them for $200), and If I only have one of them going, the one kenwood i had, beat it! I dont know how. I still cant believe it. I would still stick with the sealed enclosure though! Just saying. Best of luck too yea! p.s. you wont be dissapointed with the kenwoods at all! Give them the 400 watts and you wont be disappointed!
