Sub bottoming out?

A slapping noise could be multiple things, not just bottoming out the voice coil. It could be a loose spider, it could be tinsel slap, hell it could even be debris inside the box.

OP is running a sealed box, so I dont know why he's being told to up his SSF... he shouldn't even need it to be on, much less set higher.

sounds like that weak *** amp is clipping hard and sending bascially straight dc voltage to the sub. his sub holds 500 rms and hes using a amp that is 520 peak. sounds to me like the amp is clipping way hard.

i set the infrasonic to 25 hz and adjusted the gain again, without bass boost or eq on the head unit. It seems like it hits just as hard if not harder, without bottoming out Thanks for the help!

i have about 40 volts going to the speaker, and the sub handles 1000 max. So i think i should be fine, but i cant be sure without an osciloscope. I was told the amp i have is good quality.

you need to throw out those "MAX" numbers as they dont mean jack. RMS is the only numbers that mean anything and on some cheaper amps they dont mean jack either.
