This particular one is about to be built for Brandon's truck.

cross drilled pole piece as well? looks like its going to have some serious motor strength and cooling.. probably a pretty linear b/l curve with those cooling vents centered..

i see the top of the pole is also angled for better channeled cooling.. looks like a nice motor there boss...

I actually did not cross drill the pole.

Thanks for the comments //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well machining is pretty costly its not going to make a HUGE difference.. i reckon its more so for burps? whats the coils like? your doing a fine job sir...
I figure most folks will actually run these daily -- the "standard" coil is 71mm WW 8-layer flat aluminum on 76.7mm former (double wall 8 mil stainless steel). This coil has a good bit of gap room to the top plate and pole as well so it's really very friendly for daily.

I am going to work on some "burp" coils a bit shorter with less clearance for the SPL guys -- also with a bit lower DCR.

wow thats a pretty big coil.. how do they sound? its truly a task to get exceptional output with low distortion.. do you make your own motors in house?
They sound great, IMO -- hope to see some reviews soon... we also have a BIG shorting ring inside the magnet ID on these. FEA predicts 27mm one-way linear excursion by 70% BL with the long coil / 40mm top plate.

I wish I made motors in house //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Unfortunately not yet, they are outsourced... the factory making these does a GREAT job, though... I'm quite impressed. They really nailed my specs quite well and finish quality is also quite good (black shows all the flaws).

yea i had a few people design a pretty basic motor actually very similar utility wise but about half the height and did a custom coil but managed to get a LE of 8mh(drc of 6.3ohm).. god it was a lowend beast but above 50 it was junk...

glad you found good build house. its a shame how expensive something unique is..
