Sub bottoming out???

yes, i can hear it directly in front of the sub and off to the sides. when i made that video about 3 seconds into the bass i heard the clicking and i was standing about 4 ft away.

cant hear anything but bass in car of course.

i dont hear any bottoming out in the vid. could be tinsle lead slap i would think the horrific noise that is bottoming would be pretty clear even on a crappy vid.

O-scope it is the only way to truly know if its a clipped signal. Pull the sub out and play a 20hz free air tone and see what kind of outcome you get. Maybe the sub is just going on its last limbs before its toast

how well is your box made...one time i made a box and my glue didnt hold really well and i did not screw it, the two panels would click together and make a similar noise until i sealed it up

I dont thing its tinsel slap, the tinsels are woven into the spider..

I havent checked the resistance of the coils yet, i will do that today.

I have never smelled any type of glue burning or any odor at all when playing this sub.

A similar thing happened to my friends kickers and it was tinsel lead and it eventually led to the tinsel breaking.

But again my tinsels are woven in so i dont see how this could happen.

The noise is noticeable when i have trunk open, it just cant be heard on the camera.

Sounds like i took my knuckle and tapped the cone, but it doesnt do this on all tones/ hits through the song it clicks ONLY on specific parts. It is predictable.

Edit:

I doubt the box is coming apart. If you look at the video you will see i have enough screws in it to build a shed and glue on every edge, i could pretty much toss this out of my car at 50mph and still have it be a box.

THIS is beyond weird..

Ok so i checked to see if the line driver was at fault and it wasnt.

So i lower the gain down to 34.5v around 1200w rms.

I play song that has clicking and it has the EXACT same clicking sound and it doesnt even sound less.

I volt meter the wires when song is playing at its only hitting a MAX of 500w RMS!

WTF!!!!!

doesnt make any sort of clicking at lower volumes, but as soon as i hit 20 out of my listening volume of 22 it clicks..

So i say. WTF is going on?

I lowered the power substantially and it still clicks. Cone makes no rubbing noises and its DEFINITELY not being sent a clipped signal.

I dont know what else to do?!

EDIT:::

WOW.. Just took it out of the box and its TINSEL SLAP..

There are some marks on the cone from it. Here are some pictures..

So the new question is:

how can i prevent/ stop it..

It is slapping even at rms rating and a little under.

???

Should i bend the metal leads that hold the tinsel a tiny bit at the top to prevent this?

my subsonic filter is set at ~ 30 hz..

the max on the level is 35hz and mine is about 80% there..

Also I dont think that song i was playing was close to 30hz at ALL..

T.I. Ready for whatever..

id say its above 40hz the whole song.
