Sub bottoming out???

So since it was a nice day out i wanted to make a video of my sub..

Long story short i hear a horrible click noise on the hit of the song. I have a video for you to see, i dont think im overpowering it but i guess i am?

Phoenix Gold RSDC 600w rms 1200w max

if you listen carefully you can hear a click every once and a while.

So, i turned the volume down a notch and it still clicks on the hit.

Tested for spider tear by pushing on the sub and it is ok on that.

gain on amp is 20% SUBSONIC filter ~ 30

amp set at 40v @1 ohm ~ 1600w rms but clamp meter shows its getting 780w rms.

So lets hear it.. what could be causing this.

I just recently installed a PRE AMP line driver that dramatically changed the bass. Sounds stronger now.

I really want to fix this, i have to turn the volume down from 22 (listening level) to 19 before it stops clicking on the bass hit. ( and its only 1 specific bass note on that song)

edit: could reversed RCA's do it?

wtf i just watched it twice. :|

ITS definately hitting something and NOT a bunch of hits but one loud CLICK at a specific bass hit.

box tuned to 30hz.

For the very reason of what i think is happening.

I just checked. It does it on other songs too but its not as noticeable.

im not going to keep playing it at this level if its bottoming out.

what do you guys think?

My camera isnt the best quality so i wasnt able to record the actual Click noise but im telling you that its there..

The click can be heard at 12 seconds 23,24,25 seconds on my raw avi file on my desktop.

im trying to upload it so you can hear.

or click "watch in high quality"

its noted on the video when the clicks happen and are evident.

Also for the record the song i was playing was Ready for whatever by TI and im under the impression that the sub bottoms out at LOW frequencies, and that song is hardly low.

Anyone?

I want to find out what is wrong with my poor sub :| and if its just over excursion which it doesnt appear to be from the video, then ill just have to turn it down :|

its at the bottom right side of the video.

watch in high quality

right under volume.

Edit: could this be distortion or is it most likely bottoming out because of being over driven?????

Bump: would a line driver making distortion cause this problem?

I swear i didn't have this problem before, do you guys think for sure that its bottoming out?

From the looks of the surround and when the sub is in motion, it doesn't look to be bottoming out or over-excurting.. IMO I can't really hear the clicks though.. Put your ear as close to the subs and see if its mechanical noise. Thats the only thing I can thing of.

Huh, i was thinking that too, it doesn't have huge excursion on that song so idk.

xmax is about half an inch 14.4mm i believe.

So if the sub is making mechanical noise then that is bad right?

I know its hard to hear the clicking but it sounds like i took my finger and FLICKED the cone. As i said before its not a constant clicking but it repeats the click on the same parts of the song.
