Sub advice

I'm looking at getting 2 12" subs. The amp I have can push 370 x2 @ 4 ohms and 450 x2 @ 2 ohms. I listen to mainly rock and metal so I don't necessarily need something real loud, but I need something with pretty good SQ. With that said loud is good and I want a quality product that doesn't really compromise either. From what I've been reading on this board particularly is that DC lvl 3s are good and so are RE Audio SEXs. Both those subs can handle 600 RMS, from what I gather, which according to my math isn't an exact match. Is that fine? Also, if I did go with subs in this range should I wire for 4 ohms or 2 ohms? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

one of the best sounding subs i have ever heard run them at 2 ohms to each channel and you will have exactly what you want in a sealed box

Alright just to ask a dumb/worried question.....They are rated at 350 RMS if I send 450 to them don't I run a good chance of blowing them?

after looking around elsewhere you may have me convinced. The rest of this maybe I should shift over to the speakers section, but maybe you can help me. How are Image Dynamics other speakers? I have 2 2-Channel 600 Watt amp and I'd like to replace the 6x9s and if its possible replace my 6.5" and tweeters. I don't know if I can do the two sets off of one amp and maybe have the other speakers not amped? Or I could run a three amp system with the two smaller amps powering the speakers or something? I need some advice with this one and if this belongs in the speaker section I'll take it over, but I just figured maybe mclerico could offer up good advice.

yes toy can but you loose your front back fade one channel will run one side and the other will run the other side perfectly fine, what amp so i know the power and yes image makes great speakers

I don't think I've said I appreciate your help so I appreciate your help. My head unit has 3 pre-amps. I have a RF Punch 201s 600w and a Directed 350d 600w.

Well I have three amps total. I have a 2200w Power Acoustiks amp that I'm gonna use to power the subs. As far as price range...I'm not completely sure. I don't wanna spend too much, but also want quality stuff. Maybe 300-400 (not including the subs) perhaps less...I'm not completely sure the last couple days I've been trying to read everything I can about subs that I haven't looked at speakers

well the directed is useless as it is a mono amp so we are going to power your speakers with the fosgate tell me prices total for speakers i can tell you some

Well I can't find it online, but the Directed is a 2-Channel. It does have two + - terminals on the side. For speakers I guess were looking at between 100-150 per set (once again not including subs). If that is not reasonable for a good quality than we can raise that.
