I had a Memphis dealer argue that my Mojo 2000d was really only 1100 watts at 1 ohm.. which Isnt true... We bicker and he asks to see the amp in my friends truck that we were in.. he has a Ma Audio 1200 watt.. so the guy says watch this! and adds the 2 fuses together and multiplies that by the voltage he thinks we're running.. and he goes Ha! 720 watts at 1 ohm!!.. I laugh..

This takes the cake! guy asks what Im running and I reply Resonant Engineering SX 12's.. well he does his talking about what brands the exclusively carry..Fusion.. and alot more shit.. then he says we're gonna carry RE Audio but I doubt you've even heard of it.. I say " I just told u I have RESONANT ENGINEERING SXs!!.. He says No we are gonna carry RE Audio.. Im like Yeah RE Audio Is Resonant Engineering.. He's like no.. They have to custom make each sub.. No one around here has them.. and I show him a pic from my phone.. he's like those are the lowest line of RE.. The RE's... I tell him he doesnt know what the fvck he's talkin about

thats funny, the maximum db level that a sound wave can be in this atmosphere is 194dbs the
lol also something interesting.... 202 db's is loud enough to kill you from the shock wave alone

about 4 years ago i heard a shop owner tell a kid he needed 1 yellow top under the hood and 2 yellow tops in the back to run his kx1200 to his 2 12 l7's...and if he wanted to add another kx1200 he would want to get 2 capacitors...i did the real big eyeball thing and just shook my head...

some guy in november i think, told me he runs 550 or so watts to his boston pro 60's and "they just love it"

some kid told me some time ago that 4awg was better than the bigger wire because it gave the power a tighter flow, less space to dissipate into un-needed space or some crap...

Although I work on the front end at Lowe's, I do help sometimes with car audio.

Not much as I say "I don't know" more often than not.

I do tell people time after time that there is a difference between a port and a box with a hole in the side. Since I can't really explain why it is necessary for ports to have length (other than tuning [more like the scientific explanation]) they simply don't believe me.

Wehn I was explaining to an older cashier what dBDrag was (when I went to WF last year) some customer said his car was pretty loud. I asked him if he competed and he said yes. What organization? "I don't know"

I mean, if you are going to lie, at least lie well.

Eh, not much, only story is one trip to a local car audio dealer looking for advice.

Me: If I'm pushing x amount of power, I"d need a larger alternator, correct?

Him: What? You can't do that! Nobody sells larger alternatos. You have to drive to this place 40 miles away, have them rewind your alternator. Only costs $600-$800. Then get a cap and a second battery. Should only run about $1200 for parts, we'll install it for ya, too.

Uh...

Me: (To a different guy) You guys don't carry Digital Design's subs, do you?

Him: Never heard of them. When I ahve, it's been all bad, though. Apparentally they make horriable stuff and carge way too mcuh. You can easily beat them out with these JL's.

He then had me go out to some local's car to look at his set up. It wasn't bad, I'll admit it. It was loud for a single 12", and pretty clean. He had everythign they told me i'd need for my power.

Guy with JL's: Yeah, only cost like $3k after parts and labor.

some kid i work with is full of good laughs. he is the dumbest mofo i know when it comes to car audio. i'm no pro, but i know the basics. he said eclipse titaniums are "unblowable"... he said if you blow one (which according to him is impossible) then the dealer will give you three times your money back and a new sub lol. he also said that his two OLD cadence 12's with some old crappy generic amp and his two bazooka 10's can be heard from over a mile away. he also told me that you're not supposed to amplify component speakers because it's bad for the speakers and they will blow if you do amplify them. he said i should use carpet foam for sound deadener and it does the same thing as dynamatt, raamat, secondskin, etc. there were many more dumb things this kid has said.
