Sticker on Sub?

My buddy just got a new Mtx 9500 and put a sticker on the sub. I told him I prob wouldnt do it because it's not going to do any good. Will this cause problems?

depends, if it's big and thick it could mess it up by adding too much weight. If it's small and light it shouldn't do anything...

Added too much weight, it is an MTX. The speaker will soon tear apart.

A sticker will introduce unwanted acoustical interactions with the peripheral atmosphere surrounding the speaker cone and will result in misalignment of the cone and voice coil, possibly causing incidental voice coil rubbing and a decrease in one side of the voice coil gap which could disrupt the EM field produced by the coil which reacts with the ferrite magnets distributed around the pole piece. That was more bologna than I can handle for one day. It will do absolutely nothing that you will be able to tell unless it rips the cone when you take it off...

Oh, I almost forgot. A sticker will add .5 db of output to any audio equipment you put it on.

So long as he hasn't stuck it over the VC hole/vent on the back of the sub, then he should be just fine.
