SSA Xcon 15 New Build

Are you referring to finding the resonant frequency with a 20-60 hz sweep?.. we did that then only concentrated +2hz to -2 hz centered on 36 hz... 35hz was the loudest of the 5 frequencies... music as well... but that was 145ish maybe a little less... heck ... the box I've got is tuned to 31 hz and it sounds pretty good for a budget setup... it goes low the way I like... I'm pleased... of course Philip was there doin' almost 160 and earthquaking my Blazer from 75 feet away... (we were inside a parking garage)... 158-160 I'm told... https://youtu.be/pkdqWwdMbOM ... anyways under the parking garage it gets crazy... I think he was doin' 140 in MY car...LOL!.. just kidding but it is loud and getting louder
I mean play 25-60 hertz and draw a graph. No more then 3db difference across the bandwidth.

You mean a Flat "SQ" response?.. If you do... I gave up SQ when I quit doin' IASCA in 1998... I just want it to slam AND sound good... LOL!... my truck does not rattle, hits 146 db, has a low noise floor and has working A/C... My bar must be set pretty low... huh?.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

This is how my box modeled in Winisd... of course it's different in the vehicle...

Yeah I would hate that. A few years ago I'd have loved it but gotten over it fast.
Maybe it's still something I love because I took a 15 year break from the audio scene to work, oh I had "Kicker bass" all along but now that equipment makes true LOW frequencies possible...I prefer that under 40 hz stuff...My Stroker's went LOW... (tuned to 36)... back in their day but would only buzz today... I'm 50 and still lookin' to get low and loud... next year even lower... LOL!..

Ive always been an spl guy. I dabbled in meca sq for a season with a secondary car, but didnt enjoy the way the format itself was executed. The best scoring cars were tonally flat, and lifeless imo. Rock and roll should be very dynamic. It wasnt in those cars scoring 90.

I was told id get tired of bass, but i never have. I like a good sounding front stage, but i have no care to have a flat substage. I almost exclusively listen to rap.

A local shop that does alot of spl, and sq and well in both. Their main installer in his personal car was running all hertz mille, full dsp and all that good stuff. Sounded amazing. Substage was 2 zv4 12s on 2 hertz 6ks. Lol

Thats my style. He was doing like 153 from trunk

You must have heard them with the RTA run tune. We don't run flat for listening test. The sub stage is 6-8 db hot.

No, it wasnt for the RTA run. The judges were retarded out here. That was my issue with the format. There was a particular sound they wanted. It included staging and imaging... but tonally flat. There was some drama out here with judges, favortism, some Arc sponsored cars and a few sq shops. Power struggle with state coordinator. It was stupid. But most of the cars i heard Audio Innovations build sounded better than those 90s cars. AIs cars would usually score like 75-80. And always dumb **** like "too much drum kick" "snare too aggressive".... really? And always "too much bass"

I had the chance to sit in a legend... I demoed Earl Z's (can't even remember his name) BMW in 1996 or 1997... IDK... OMG, it was NOT a SPL build but had subs in the front behind the wheel-wells and some crazy tube amps on the frontstage... I still haven't heard anything as warm and lifelike to date... the presence of the vocals were scary... I tried to emulate that for awhile but family came first and I stepped away... I killed myself acquiring hi-end drivers, building kick pods, dampening the WHOLE car and it still turned out to be a 150 build in 1997-8... I'd place high locally as the judges loved the novelty of it and it really sounded good and went LOW in 1997-8... a flat curve is NOT usually conducive to good sound I learned this after many sessions with the RTA... LOL!.. That car HAD to cost him BIG bucks to sound like it did... LOL!

Ive never heard anything like that^ probably if i did, it would change my perspective. Something that lifelike

But until then, ill just be a **** that demos when the judges are trying to judge the sq builds

thats beyond bullshit. I dont see how having good midbass is a bad thing. Might as well listen to a fking pair of studio monitors with zero life in them.

Heck... nowadays with the DSP's and all... IDK... sound treatment is probably as important as it always was... but placement problems can be overcome to an extent with DSP's I'm sure... I have ZERO experience with DSP's and frankly they scare me as I know myself and will probably fall into that money pit again... tweaking and testing... LOL!.. for 1996 it was a KILLER setup but today... probably above average...

Meca sq in cali was constructed for 1 or 2 teams and 1 or 2 manufacturers. God forbid the faggy Arc car show up and they would shut down demoing. 3 sq cars. 50 spl cars. Seems legit. Meca died a quick death in cali
