Sealing off trunk? Do's and Don't ?

Once my new sub comes in I plan on sealing off my trunk.

Just wanted to see if anyone has experience with sealing off a trunk *properly*

What should I use?

What shouldn't I use?

Once I seal it off is it possible to be undone?

Currently, my setup has the sub firing into the trunk.

I want to get as much out of this setup as possible. I think sealing it up will yield the most gain.

lots of peeps use spray foam they say they find it everywhere for weeks after unsealing.. 1 guy said he used painters tape or something like that then just pealed it up., smart..

thats what I did when I had to foam some of the trunk panels. I don't want to use foam unless I absolutely need to.

If I tight enough panel will be enough then thats great, I just want to see what I'm getting into before I do this.

I wanted to look at build logs but 99% of them are hosted on photobucket to they're all gone.

I made a trim panel that screwed to some blocks attached to the side of the box from 1/4" MDF and kitty hair then wrapped it in vinyl before... used with a 1/2" MDF rear deck it was VERY effective... IDK if you want to do all that work tho... sealed the trunk rather well and looked good too... wish I had pics but this was pre-2000... I mean... Prehistoric... LOL!.. I just used masking tape to cover the areas I was going to lay the glass then I hot glued the larger MDF pieces together before applying the glass to finish the piece... a cutting wheel/dremel was VERY useful to trim it and make it blend into the factory panels... and quite a bit of sanding as well... that's one way... LOL!.. form fit and fully removable as well... I imagine you want to avoid this...

^that is key. Not all cars gain sealed off
Mine lost 3 full db sealing off. Was the most infuriating thing I'd ever done in audio for me. Spent well over 20 hours on it, had a box made for it, spent a few hundred bucks on it, and lost.

Now there's foam in the car that's impossible to get out.

I'll never again seal off a trunk. Screw that.

Spray foam is NOT really rigid so should be used as a last resort for small or hard to reach places only. Wood, PL adhesive, and fiberglass is the correct answer, and if you do it right it will be VERY permanent. You could however make the baffle easily removable using foam weatherstripping or caulking rope to seal giving you options for changing things up or access to the inside of the box down the road. The picture that Shredder posted is what I'd be looking to do.

The car is a 2008 VW Jetta

New sub will be here next week, see what that sounds like with the current setup.

See what it meters later this month.

And then will probably seal off regardless.

Another reason I want to do it is to gain my back seats back.

I ride solo with my seats down regardless because it's louder but if I have to drive more than one person I can't.

Currently my seats won't close with my amp/box and size/placement

If I seal off then I move a few things around...

What host did u use to pist thatt pic

That's what I've been using. It directly drops the image on other forms. But only will drop the link for me here like soAnap https://imgur.com/gallery/zVIGC

How are you dropping the image directly. I want to post pictures of my enclosure build in the build log section
I use the "insert image" tool/icon, whatever above the window where you type a reply... then copy image url in Imgur and paste it in the window that opens when you "insert image"... hit the "OK" button to get it to insert an image...
