SQL woofer

Was that around the time Fi had leads catch fire left and right? It's better than SQ. it's a totally different woofer. From motor to soft parts.
2008. Mine lasted 7 years before I sold it. Got it in 07. Visited that shop in 08. Probably not around anymore.

Just don't fall into that category of every SQ and DD sub or even amp is the same. They are very much different. I don't have a problem with Fi or the OEMs. I won't order a sub online after my bad experience with DC. Paying shipping so much due to failures under warranty. It's so much easier to walk in the dealer and get it fixed. If the dealer is square.

You yourself first hated the MS-8, but then spent a long time getting it right and finally happy with it. You should give the OP some advice as to what he may need to do along those lines. Buying new equipment should be secondary.

I see what you are getting at. Difference is I knew what the MS-8 could do and I'm experienced enough to keep messing with it.

You can polish a turd but it's still a turd. Not saying the SQ is a turd but it don't fit what he is wanting.

I'm not just saying this because I like SQ subs and amps. I've heard HDS310, 312 as well as CSCStang's HDC310 and Jeff's 18s. They got them to sound pretty good and they were able to make them sound they way the wanted, granted Jeff's setup is SPL focused. I just wanted to make sure we're giving people advice to maximize their current situation before spending more money. If he's not even messed with the HU yet, he def should start there. It's free. You and I both know that you can make a system sound totally different just by adjusting x-over points and EQ. Btw you also know that good sq requires ample power, that's why I asked him what amp he's running.

Agreed but raising the filter won't help. It will just raise it on the kids which he don't need.

Don't buy anything until you figure out the deck and play with it for a while.
So you're saying adjusting my eq will enable my sub to have better transitions from bass guitar to kick drum? I've adjusted the slope like you said. Didn't have time to put any rock music on but I will tomorrow morning.

My last setup didn't even have an eq. It was a 12inch sub vs 10, but it still sounded better. Same amp, right now using a kicker 750, trying to buy an amp off the classifieds here for more power. These seems just as loud as ssd. Just doesn't sound as good for rock music. I'll try messing with the eq some more...

lol its funny cuz you call everyone who recommends a certain brand nut huggers, and here you are all you do is recommend DD, quit swinging on DD's left nut bro! : ) I think the icon is a perfect sub for this man, but you do have a point there with those DD's they are great subs. so many good choices

If you want lows, loud, range.DD 610 or if the dealer is cool a DD 3510

I honestly think you are asking for too much. Rap AND rock? I dont think so. The dq def is a noise maker and thats it. Cscstangs box is. Wicked on metal i love that thing but on rap and lows it lacks. Your asking for the perfect woofer which is what i wanted because my music library is LITERALLY everything you can think of 120gbs of music from practically every country lol. You just gotta decide what you prefer flexing lows, or chest crunching bass.
