Looking for a couple of 12 inch subs for a sealed box mainly for SQ. Don't want it to take up a lot of space in the trunk. I have an Arc Audio 1500xxk to run them off of. Price range about $250-300 per sub.

I've been browsing the forums, doing a little searching...how do people with Crystal Comp Subs, IDMax, Alumapro Alchemy's, Arc Audio D4s, Seas Subs, or Diamond D9s like them...I ran some older Alumapro Alchemy's from about 4 years ago in another car and liked them.

Any suggestions welcome...

RL-Ps ftw $220 each plus shipping which should be cheap as hell since you live in cali... Might even be able to do a local drop off. depends on how close you are to La Canada, Cali.

if you're really from the yay, you aren't going to want to pick them up, believe me...

kreuk, soundsplinter is in the glendale area, i suggest you consider them (though you probably won't be able to hear one in person w/o finding someone that owns them...besides Mike..)

For 12-inchers, I've owned the a/d/s r12s, Alumapro MX, Eclipse aluminum 8000-series (I forgot the exact model #), IDMax, and JBL Power Series P1222 - all of them were 1 driver each in 2 separate sealed boxes, placed in the rear trunk corners of a '95 Nissan Altima. The best IMO were the MX, r12s, and 8xxx.

The r12s and Eclipse were a bit more efficient in sealed config than the MX, but the r12s didn't go down past 25Hz as easily without some slight power compression, (eh...not much happenin' below 25Hz in a car anyway...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif ). I'm talking here about 2x SVC 4 ohm version MX's in parallel - not the DVC 6/6 unit, and the r12s' and Eclipse's wired for 2 ohm total as well. The 8xxx did do the 20-25Hz range easier, but on real music it sounded a bit too "aggressive" overall compared to the MX and r12s, and while that might seem impressive at first listen it doesn't please well over the long run.

I thought the IDMax and P1222 sounded good until I heard what the others could do. Then those 2 sounded somewhat slow and thick - almost like ported subs.

FYI: power at the time was Alumapro The C.A.P. 5 Farad + JL Audio 500.1. All subs were tested with the JL set at 24dB/oct @ 86Hz X-over, and Low Filter @ 15Hz. In-car, I don't think I coulda handled much more than that 500.1/C.A.P. 5 rig put out on any of those subs before my skull split open! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hide.gif.2d479cfd917eedfe201353b91522ceab.gif

For me it was a toss-up between the MX and r12s - so I kept both pair. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

Fi Q.....

I have heard tha the Q series is very very comparable to the RE XXX and Scott feels fairly safe in comparing to a JL W7 in SQ.

He has also said that it will pass up the RE SX in terms of SPL and pass it up in SQ when the SX runs out of xmax in lower tuned applications.

He also stated that the L7 gets loud becuase of the added cone area and that he feels the Fi Q will do well against it in terms of output and will simply trounce/pounce it in the SQ department.

Pricing is **** good too....

12" $259 shipping included

15" $279 shipping included

18" $309 shipping included

If you ask me I don't think you could go wrong with that setup I mean with 1000w RMS power handling (probably can put more than that to it) sensitivity rating the 27mm of one way excursion 3" VC .

**** I may just have to pick up two Fi Q's or one Fi BTL LOL....
